International Visegrad Fund Project
From Oct. 2016 to Feb. 2017 four international workshops were organized within the International Visegrad Fund project “Cross-Border Bees in V4 Countries - Building of Educational Entrepreneurship Start-Ups in V4 Group" (Project No. 11610602), coordinated by the University of Bielsko-Biala.
The workshops took place in the following universities: University of Bielsko-Biala, Poland (Nov 2016), Szent István University, Hungary (Dec. 2016), Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, Slovakia (Jan. 2017) and VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic (Feb. 2017).
New President of SUN Chosen
On 6 February 2017 the meeting of Silesian Universities Network took place in the Rectorate of the University of Silesia. The meeting summarized the activities of the network in the years 2014-2016, the period in which Prof. Mirosław Nakonieczny served as the network’s President.
Another objective of the meeting was to choose the new President of SUN. The position was granted unanimously to Vice-Rrector for Development and Sports of the Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, Prof. Grzegorz Juras. Thus, the leadership of the Silesian Universities Network in the term 2016-2018 had been passed over to The Academy of Physical Education in Katowice.
Conference of National Congress of Science in Katowice
The conference Academic career paths and the development of young academic staff, organized by Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, will take place on 26th of January 2017 and 27th January 2017 on the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia in Katowice.
The topic of the conference in Katowice is the career and the development of young academic staff, including their working conditions, career path and their functioning in Polish education system. It is a fourth of the conferences organized in different educational institutions in Poland, during which the major problems of higher education system in Poland are discussed.
Silesia Days 2016
Silesia Days is a student didactic-cultural conference organised on annual basis. This event has attracted international students to Silesia for years now, creating the image of a region full of positive energy, exciting events, a place where you want to live, study, work, invest and spend free time.
This year, the 10th edition of Silesia Days was organised on 12-15th of May 2016 by the University of Economics in Katowice in cooperation with Silesian Universities Network. Each participant had a chance to visit our University and found out about the opportunities to study, have an internship or shape future career with us.
Opening of the ABSL Academy in Katowice
In the November 2016 the ABSL Academy course will be opened in Katowice. ABSL Academy is a programme that supports its graduates in being employed in one of over 170 foreign companies in Poland. The courses are provided by the representatives of the University of Economics in Katowice, University of Silesia in Katowice and Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice.
The Programme of ABSL Academy aims at developing practical skills in the area of managing one’s career, networking and chosen case studies. The course is divided into three blocks, each dedicated to a separate subject: Knowledge about the sector (CIMA), Case studies, Soft Skills Workshops.
Meeting with Association of Business Service Leaders (ABSL)
On the 2nd of June 2015, at 2:00 PM, in the Rectorate of the University of Silesia (Bankowa 12, 1st floor - Hall Kazimierz Lepszego) a meeting will be held with the participation of Association of Business Service Leaders (ABSL) Katowice Chapter and the Silesian Universities Network (SUN).
Three Silesian universities: the University of Silesia in Katowice, University of Economics in Katowice and the Silesian University of Technology will present their potential in education, research, services of Career Offices and cooperation with economy of the Silesian Network.
